The dream of youthful, radiant skin is close to many people's hearts. Some believe the only way to it is through plastic surgery. In reality, there is a rich selection of effective treatments that help maintain the skin's vitality and youthfulness completely safely, avoiding highly invasive procedures. But how do you find what suits you best, and where do you start?

The importance of knowledge and experience in the beauty world can of course not be underestimated. We talk about keeping and preserving youthful skin with Dr Bret Kaldvee, founder of Sclinic, aesthetic medicine specialist and dermatologist, and Moonika Toi, owner, manager and specialist of Blanche Beauty Clinic.

Dr Bret Kaldvee completed her studies and practised as a dermatologist, and over the past 10 years she has increasingly devoted herself to aesthetic medicine procedures. Dr Kaldvee is a member of several international professional organisations.

Moonika Toi studied nursing at the Tallinn Health Care College and is an international trainer for many highly acclaimed brands. Moonika has worked in the beauty world for 20 years and is known for her dedication. She is also a key opinion leader (KOL) and, among other things, the winner of the AMWC Congress 2025 international competition for the best non-surgical aesthetic result.

This time, both acclaimed specialists share their knowledge and experience of less invasive beauty procedures.

What are the main current trends in beauty services, and have they changed in recent years – and if so, how?

As time goes on, more and more natural solutions are sought for maintaining and achieving youthful skin. Regenerative medicine is developing very quickly. Today the main focus is on restoring the skin's health and youthfulness – not only on fillers and botulinum therapy. These services still play a very important role, but both techniques and amounts have changed over time.

"The days when big lips and extreme results dominated are rather a thing of the past. Dissolving old fillers and creating a fresh, more natural result has also become increasingly popular," Moonika Toi describes the situation.

How do new technological and innovative solutions affect the current situation?

Clients expect quick results and as little recovery time as possible. Technology and science are constantly developing in this field – newer devices are already equipped with AI, which makes procedures even safer and more precise. Today artificial intelligence is an everyday tool in the beauty world, used both in skin analysis and in procedure settings.

"At Blanche we use, for example, the Italian Canwave RF technology, which offers many options for both minimally invasive and more invasive procedures," Moonika Toi says, delighted and proud of what has been achieved. Canwave RF SMAS Lifting is called a true innovation and the flagship of RF lifting, because it is a non-surgical facelift.

Laser technology is becoming ever more effective.

The laser procedures offered by Dr Bret Kaldvee at Sclinic may be just the thing for women who are afraid of needles. Sclinic has invested specifically in high-tech laser devices because they are safe and effective.

Laser technology was created to treat various skin problems, including acne, rosacea and ageing skin, but it also works effectively for skin renewal. Sclinic, for example, offers fractional laser resurfacing, which helps improve the texture and appearance of the skin. Using a precise laser, the skin is treated and the growth of new, healthy tissue is stimulated.

Sclinic also offers IPL photorejuvenation based on laser technology, which helps achieve excellent results even with acne. Also worth mentioning is the laser skin-tightening procedure TightSculpting x Dr Bret. It is a solution for those who want to improve their body contour and skin condition without surgery, scars and a long recovery. It also gives good results after major weight loss and, for example, for post-pregnancy loose skin and stretch marks.

At the same time, innovative does not always mean a device or an injectable preparation. It can also be a peel with novel ingredients. At Blanche, rejuvenating results can be achieved with carefully selected acids, polynucleotides and volcanic minerals. One of these is the new Minepeel, the world's first mineralised facial peel.

Has achieving youthfulness through injections become a thing of the past?

It hasn't quite gone down in history yet. Both Dr Bret Kaldvee and Moonika Toi agree that botulinum therapy and fillers have their place in the world of aesthetic medicine. The question is rather which products and amounts are used to achieve the most natural result possible.

"The most important thing is maintaining and improving skin quality. Botulinum therapy really is very effective in softening the mimic muscles and is therefore still among the services in demand," explains Dr Bret Kaldvee.

As mentioned earlier, there is great interest in different options. A personal consultation always finds the best solution. Dr Kaldvee also emphasises that by drawing up a specific treatment plan for the client, the desired results are achieved using the best means.

According to Blanche, there are many questions about lifting with MINT Lift threads and about various skin-boosting preparations that can be injected or applied with microneedling. MINT Lift threads are the only PDO threads recognised by the FDA for lifting purposes, backed by extensive clinical studies.

"The choice of alternatives on the market is really wide and keeps growing. New players are PDRN, or polynucleotides, obtained from salmon sperm cells. Second, exosomes, both plant-based and animal-based, the latter of which are not permitted in the EU," explains Moonika Toi. Exosomes act like a signal that prompts a cell to repair itself. In medicine in general, exosomes are a hot topic, and there is even optimism about possible future achievements in cancer treatment.

Sometimes very little is enough to boost self-confidence.

"How a person sees themselves in the mirror is often their own subjective opinion. I can help assess from the outside whether it matches an objective view. My job is to support restoring self-confidence – whether the issue is a sagging facial contour, wrinkles around the eyes or smoother skin on the stomach," Moonika Toi says with conviction, adding that a confident woman is always an even more beautiful woman.

Both Dr Bret Kaldvee and Moonika Toi say it is a great joy for them to see how clients blossom more and more after visiting the clinic, both in the good health of their skin and in the glow radiating from their faces.
