Gift ideas for a happy woman – jewellery, watches and beauty products
English translation of the original Estonian article. Original headline: Kingiideed õnnelikule naisele – ehted, kellad ja ilutooted
See the original design in the magazineThey say happiness can't be bought, and that's true – real contentment is born within us. Yet there are moments in life when a beautifully wrapped box and the surprise hidden inside bring a special sparkle to the eyes.
A gift is not just an object, but rather a confirmation that someone has been thinking of you. Rejoicing in receiving it is lovely, adding a festive touch to any anniversary or ordinary day. Whether it comes lovingly from someone, as professional recognition or as a way of pampering yourself – Estonian design and quality are certainly one of the best ways to celebrate.
Designer jewellery is like wearable art with its own story to tell
Estonian jewellery design seems to be flourishing right now, successfully offering distinctive and beautiful products both at home and around the world. If you are looking for a gift with soul and a unique signature, it is worth turning to platforms such as Ehestu.ee and tallinndesignhouse.com, visiting the Estonian Design House, the Estonian design shops at the Solaris centre and other large and small boutiques. Below we take a closer look at two Estonian brands that have been operating for quite a few years.
Rebellious elegance – New Vintage by Kriss
Looking at current jewellery trends, one can generally say that layering (the layered look) as well as chains and bolder forms are in fashion right now. According to Kriss Eglite, jewellery designer at New Vintage by Kriss (NVBYK), colourful and, in a good sense, childishly joyful jewellery is also on trend.
"Last autumn we launched the Amanita Muscaria collection, where handmade little mushrooms, rainbows, hearts and clouds are combined with pearls," Eglite says, introducing popular products. The mushroom motif has become very trendy in many places – even the Chanel fashion house's spring 2026 collection featured plenty of fly agarics.
For Eglite, when creating jewellery, its deeper meaning is as important as its material and quality. The packaging always contains a small card describing the meaning and story behind each piece. Speaking of special products, the NVBYK creator chooses the Red Cord collection. Throughout history, jewellery with a red cord has been used as a talisman in many cultures. "Bracelets made of a special red cord with precious metal details are a good example of how, for us, the deeper meaning of a piece can be as important as its appearance and material," she shares her feelings about creating the product.
Ethical and ethnic luxury from Ines Karu-Salo – Kirivoo
In its creations, Kirivoo combines femininity with an ethical worldview, proving that luxury can also be sustainable. Kirivoo jewellery has at least an 80% lower footprint than traditionally produced fine jewellery. "My goal is to take steps that help preserve the health of our planet while creating jewellery inspired by ethnic symbols," explains Kirivoo's creative director Ines Karu-Salo.
Speaking of trends, Karu-Salo also confirms that cheerful designs, such as floral themes, are currently in fashion. In spring and summer, seashells and waves also appeal to customers.
To save resources and reduce waste, 3D printing technology and 100% recycled silver are used, also available gold-plated. In addition, one tree is planted for every product, so that everything sold is climate-positive. Among other things, this year Kirivoo was named a finalist in the UK's most prestigious jewellery industry competition, the Retail Jeweller UK Jewellery Awards 2026. Such a gift is sure to delight an environmentally conscious woman.
Time as the most precious gift – AEGAON
Today a watch is no longer just a tool for measuring time, but an accessory that also symbolises a (life)style. Watch design has expanded powerfully, offering products that are bold and timeless at the same time. The Estonian watchmaker AEGAON proves that top-level design can be created in a small country too.
As for wristwatch trends, vintage and retro design have still not gone anywhere, joined by bold colours and materials. AEGAON's marketing manager Kristjan Rabi notes that the brand managed to be a step ahead of the world as early as last year. In the "Iris" collection they began offering exactly the shades that are extremely hard to find: red, purple, baby blue and – hugely popular worldwide right now – green! AEGAON's online shop statistics confirm that, with the beginning of spring, Estonian women's choices are also leaning more and more towards bold colours.
Any gift can always be made glamorous with a combination of black and gold. According to Rabi, the "Tabula Rasa" model has always been the brand's preferred choice on such occasions. "The best-quality gift is always the one that speaks to you. But when it comes to the technical quality of wristwatches, it consists of several elements: 316L stainless steel, scratch-resistant sapphire glass, water resistance of at least 5 ATM and, of course, a movement from a reliable manufacturer," AEGAON's marketing manager points out, so that every watch buyer knows what to ask the seller.
Kristjan Rabi also recalls a lovely story about watches. "One couple happened to give each other identical watches for Christmas – the blue 'Tabula Rasa' model. This fun, romantic incident confirmed to them that they were made for each other, and at their wedding some time later the watches even played a leading role," Kristjan Rabi says happily.
Beauty products: a homegrown caress for the skin
It is a pleasure to see that the Estonian (natural) cosmetics industry offers a wide range of high-quality products. Our clean nature and the knowledge of our scientists provide true luxury for the skin. A gift that invites you to enjoy "me time" with acclaimed products is always a safe bet.
Some of the country's brightest beauty brands are each a gem in their own right: Berrichi with its innovative algae-based products, Nurme and JOIK with their special closeness to nature and wonderful scents, and D'DIFFERENCE with its luxurious concept. Lumi, Luuv, Tilk, Orto Puhas Loodus and many other companies also offer the joy of discovering Estonian cosmetics.
Speaking of quality, brands offering Estonian natural cosmetics recommend paying attention to the ingredients, if possible their origin, and checking for certificates. Berrichi, for example, has been awarded ECOCERT. Both Nurme and JOIK recommend using the INCI Beauty app to check whether a product really contains high-quality natural ingredients and is good for the skin.
Innovative products with the help of algae – Berrichi
While the powerful positive effects of algae have been known for a long time, as science has advanced, interest in natural ingredients and especially algae has grown even further. Algae offer many possibilities because they are naturally very rich in nutrients, and growing them does not require the same resources as many other raw materials – no fertilisers or fields are needed.
Berrichi's uniqueness comes from the combination of several things. First, innovation – at the heart of the products are algae, which can be considered "superheroes". Furcellaran, for example, helps the skin bind moisture and creates a protective, smooth layer.
Astaxanthin obtained from algae is also used. This natural pigment is one of the most powerful antioxidants. Among other things, it gives flamingos their pink colour, salmon its orange and Berrichi creams their characteristic tone.
"We are in partnership with Tallinn University, where research into discovering the potential of algae and into product development continues all the time. The use of organic raw materials is just as important – Berrichi products have ECOCERT certification. A pleasant bonus is the special packaging of the face creams, which helps preserve the product better and allows refill solutions," says the company's CEO Berit Joosep happily.
Nordic ideas and contemporary knowledge – JOIK
JOIK has been creating and developing beauty products for Estonian women for many years. "As in the whole world of natural cosmetics, our focus is increasingly on evidence-based active ingredients and ever greater transparency. People expect products that are natural, certified, effective and that also value sustainable packaging," JOIK's founder Eva-Maria Õunapuu describes customers' wishes.
Most recently, JOIK added the Sunless Tan product line to its range – a self-tanning face spray and a body foam. They are enriched with skin-caring ingredients, including Estonian birch sap, rich in antioxidants and minerals. The cosmetics line was also recently joined by double-ended make-up pencils, with a concealer at one end and a highlighter at the other, which quickly became popular with customers.
Simplicity and the caress of pure nature – NURME
Besides natural and certified skincare products, part of the beauty world's focus is always on improving the health of the scalp and hair. There is more and more talk about the microbiome, the scalp's natural bacterial community, which directly affects the environment in which hair grows.
Another important direction in the cosmetics world, according to Nurme's marketing manager Miia Liisa Riikoja, is so-called clean beauty. Products with fewer ingredients are preferred, and these must be carefully selected and of proven effect. In natural cosmetics, transparency is increasingly valued. People want to know exactly what they put on their skin.
Recently, several products have been added to Nurme's range that fit current beauty trends well. "The scalp oil and scalp tonic from Nurme's rosemary line quickly became very popular among customers, and the first batch sold out in just a month. The scalp oil supports hair follicle activity and improves circulation, while the scalp tonic helps maintain the scalp's moisture level and supports the balance of the microbiome," Riikoja explains.
Nurme has also added a plum oil for the face, beneficial for its antioxidants, omega fatty acids and vitamin E.
"Gifts have a great significance in our company, because Nurme actually started from homemade gifts. The brand's creator and co-founder Marit Tiits made handmade soaps in her home kitchen as Christmas presents for friends and relatives. The feedback was surprisingly positive, and that gave her the push to get serious about natural cosmetics," Riikoja explains, showing how any gift can grow into something far more meaningful.
Whether a gift is big or small, from a dear person or from yourself – what matters is the positive emotion and moment of gratitude it carries. May you have the courage to dream big and the ability to rejoice in every little thing in your life. A happy woman is the most beautiful sight in the world.
